Luís Tinoco - "O Silêncio e as Pedras" at the Música Viva Festival

Biography

Luis Tinoco (b. 1969, Lisbon) made his First Degree in composition at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. He was then awarded with scholarships by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Centro Nacional de Cultura to complete a Masters degree in Composition at the Royal Academy of Music, in London. Presently, he's doing a PhD Music research at the University of York, with Prof. Nicola LeFanu.

"O Silêncio e as Pedras" at the Música Viva Festival

This composition was first performed by the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble, who commissioned the work, at the Cascais Cultural Centre in 2008. It is scored for alto flute, bass clarinet, piano, violin, cello and granite stones, with live electronics. The upcoming performance will take place on 13 September 2009, at the CCB/Musica Viva Festival, in Lisbon, and will be conducted by Jean-Sébastien Béreau.
