Biography

Luis Tinoco (b. 1969, Lisbon) made his First Degree in composition at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. He was then awarded with scholarships by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Centro Nacional de Cultura to complete a Masters degree in Composition at the Royal Academy of Music, in London. Presently, he's doing a PhD Music research at the University of York, with Prof. Nicola LeFanu.

New CD releases with "Samplers' Union" and "Short Cuts D" Print

Two new recordings will be released on CD very shortly: "Samplers' Union" (2008), for multiple percussion; and "Short Cuts D" (2004/2008), for  one percussionist and clarinet quartet. 
The first piece was co-created with the percussionist Nuno Aroso for his début CD,  TECHNICOLOR - to be released at the Centro de Memória de Vila do Conde, on the 11th July | 09.00 p.m.

On the same day and same hour, the Vintage Quintet will also release their début CD at the Auditório da Faculdade de Engenharia da Faculdade do Porto. This CD includes the première recording of a new version of "Short Cuts", written for the percussionist Pedro Carneiro (vibraphone and marimba) and the Vintage Quintet musicians.

Short Cuts original version is also available on CD recordings by the Apollo Saxophone Quartet (click  here) and by the QuadQuartet (click here); and, also, Short Cuts C, for four winds, piano and three percussionists, by the Ensemble Lontano (click here).
